A key economic development partner in the central employment district for the City of Charlotte with businesses that range from design firms and retail shops in Historic South End to the government centers and financial, insurance, real estate, engineering and legal services companies that populate the growing skyline of Uptown Charlotte. We now have 70,000 workers in Uptown and South End. This is also a thriving and diverse urban neighborhood with more than 13,000 residents. Our neighborhoods boast gleaming, high-rise condos, stately turn-of-the-century Victorian homes, apartments, town homes and houses for singles and growing families as well as a healthy mix of affordable and subsidized housing.
